BIM and Virtual Reality Applications in Modular Design and Construction (Project Case study)

 



We believe BIM & Virtual reality (VR) technology has the potential to revolutionize the field of modular construction and design by allowing designers and engineers to create and test designs in a simulated environment before they are built in the real world.


Now we are using BIM software's and VR technology to develop 3D models, design and visualize the 3D modular modules.


VR can be used for Training and Simulation purposes, so that people will be familiar with construction processes.


In this project, it is very important to make people and stakeholders understand the concept at systems level. They should be able to imagine and experience the future with this modular plug in and out system.


People say “One picture speaks 1000 words! If a picture is speaking 1000 then the model will speak Millions!!“ 


Sometimes people may not understand or not get the exact idea of what we are trying to convey, then these models and VR Simulation plays a major role.


That’s why we are using 3D BIM models and VR technology.


We also use it for Quality Control, yes. We inspect the 3D modules in VR then will come to know if anything is needed to add or subtract. 


One more thing, BIM and VR have a good impact on Construction planning and management. Can plan and manage construction of modular structures, including scheduling, resource allocation, and logistics. 


This can help improve efficiency and reduce costs by allowing construction teams to better coordinate their efforts.


This project and model are in the development stage, always there will be some room for development and innovation. We are on it.

Overall, the use of VR technology in modular construction has the potential to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and improve the quality of finished products.

  Most people perceive BIM as a software or 3D modelling. If there is a discussion about BIM, most probable question is “what BIM software you know?”. And question is, “To buy, learn and implement the software, it costs so much, so why should we do that when work is being completed in normal way?”   At this exact situation, I make them to sit down and will start explaining as below.   Smile like beautiful sunshine😇. I realized that To accelerate our journey in the AEC Industry (BIM era) Software/Tools are very important. I started working on CAD MEP, Revit & NavisWorks(of course there are many but for now). In fact, to get hands-on experience and to add our creativity/value, it requires a lot more practice, to practice needs time.
